The International Advanced Research Centre for Powder Metallurgy and New Materials (ARCI), an autonomous R&D centre of the Department of Science & Technology (DST), Government of India, is the recruiting authority.


Post Names and Vacancies

ARCI has opened applications for a total of 11 scientist positions across different levels.

·         Scientist "E": 3 Posts

·         Scientist "C": 1 Post

·         Scientist "B" (R&D - Sciences): 2 Posts (1 Unreserved, 1 OBC-Non-Creamy Layer)

·         Scientist "B" (R&D - Engineering): 5 Posts (3 Unreserved, 1 ST, 1 EWS)


Age Limit

The upper age limit for the posts as of the application deadline is:

·         Scientist "E": Not exceeding 45 years

·         Scientist "C": Not exceeding 35 years

·         Scientist "B": Not exceeding 35 years


Educational Qualification & Experience

  • Scientist "E"

·         Essential Qualification: A Doctorate Degree in Physical Sciences OR a Master's Degree in Engineering or Technology from a recognized university.

·         Essential Experience: 10 years of R&D experience in Industry, R&D institutions, or Academic Institutions. Expertise is required in areas like Li-ion/Na-ion battery materials, large-scale synthesis of inorganic materials for photovoltaics, development of nanostructured materials for high-temperature applications, or Polymer Electrolyte Membranes (PEM).

·         Desirable: Post-doctorate in Physical Sciences or a Doctorate in Engineering/Technology, experience in executing R&D projects, and a strong record of publications and patents.

  • Scientist "C"

·         Essential Qualification: A Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical and Electronics Engineering.

·         Essential Experience: 4 years of relevant experience in areas like installation, testing, and maintenance of sub-stations, DG sets, and solar PV units.

·         Desirable: A Master's degree in a relevant field and familiarity with electrical contracts, safety standards, and load management.

  • Scientist "B" (R&D - Sciences)

·         Essential Qualification: A Master's degree in Physical Sciences or Chemical Sciences.

·         Desirable: A Doctorate in Physical/Chemical Sciences and one year of R&D experience.

  • Scientist "B" (R&D - Engineering)
Essential Qualification: A Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Technology in Materials Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Chemical Engineering.

·         Desirable: A Master's degree in the relevant engineering discipline and one year of R&D experience.


Post-wise Salary Details

Successful candidates will receive attractive emoluments as per government norms.

·         Scientist "E": Pay Level 13, approximately ₹2,38,895/- per month.

·         Scientist "C": Pay Level 11, approximately ₹1,36,405/- per month.

·         Scientist "B": Pay Level 10, approximately ₹1,14,945/- per month.

Other benefits include the New Pension Scheme (NPS), Gratuity, Medical Reimbursement, and Leave Travel Concession (LTC).


Selection Process

The selection process varies for each post:

·         Scientist "E": Selection will be based on a presentation on R&D achievements and a research proposal, followed by a Personal Interview.

·         Scientist "C": Shortlisted candidates will give a presentation on electrical projects they have handled, followed by a Personal Interview.

·         Scientist "B": Selection involves a Competitive Written Examination (CWE). Candidates shortlisted based on CWE marks will be called for a Personal Interview. The final selection will have a 50% weightage for CWE marks and 50% for the Personal Interview.

3.   Pay the non-refundable application fee via NEFT/RTGS and enter the bank transfer details in the online application.

4.   For the Scientist "E" position, candidates must download a questionnaire form for a research proposal and submit the filled-in form with their online application.

5.   Applications submitted through any other mode or incomplete applications will be rejected.

Exam Pattern for Scientist 'B'

 

·         Mode of Exam: Competitive Written Examination (CWE) in Hyderabad only.

·         Duration: 3 hours (180 minutes).

·         Total Marks: 300.

·         Total Questions: 100 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs).

·         Marking Scheme: Each question carries 3 marks.

·         Negative Marking: 1 mark will be deducted for each incorrect answer.

Section-wise Question Distribution

·         Section A: 90 MCQs (270 marks) from the relevant essential Science/Engineering discipline chosen by the candidate.

·         Section B: 10 MCQs (30 marks) on analytical skills/logical reasoning, common to all disciplines.


Important Rules

·         The last date for the submission of online applications is July 28, 2025.

·         The period spent obtaining the minimum essential educational qualification will not be counted as experience.

·         Online applications will not be considered if the NEFT/RTGS payment is not received by the deadline.

·         A preliminary screening of applications will be conducted to shortlist candidates for the interview/written exam.
