Eligibility Criteria

Essential Academic Qualifications (as on 30.09.2025)

  • A graduation degree in any discipline from a recognized University or any equivalent qualification recognized by the Central Government is required.
  • Candidates in their Final Year/Semester of Graduation are also eligible to apply provisionally, provided they can produce proof of passing the graduation examination on or before 30.09.2025 if called for an interview.
  • Candidates with qualifications like Medical, Engineering, Chartered Accountant, and Cost Accountant are also eligible.

Salary and Emoluments

Selected candidates will be placed in the Junior Management Grade Scale-I.

  • Starting Basic Pay: ₹48,480/- (with 4 advance increments).
  • Pay Scale: 48480-2000/7-62480-2340/2-67160-2680/7-85920.
  • Allowances: The official will also be eligible for Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), City Compensatory Allowance (CCA), Provident Fund (PF), Contributory Pension Fund (NPS), Leave Fare Concession (LFC), Medical Facility, and other allowances and perquisites as per the rules.
  • Approximate CTC: The Cost to Company (CTC) at the initial scale of pay at the Mumbai Centre is approximately ₹20.43 Lacs.

Selection Process

The selection for SBI Probationary Officers is a comprehensive three-phase process:

  1. Phase-I: Preliminary Examination
  2. Phase-II: Main Examination
  3. Phase-III: Psychometric Test, Group Exercise & Interview

Phase-I: Preliminary Examination

This is an online objective test of 100 marks. The marks from this phase are not considered for the final merit list but are qualifying for the Main Examination.

There will be no sectional cut-off in the preliminary examination. Candidates numbering approximately 10 times the number of vacancies in each category will be shortlisted for the Main Examination.

Phase-II: Main Examination

This will also be conducted online and consists of an Objective Test for 200 marks and a Descriptive Test for 50 marks.

(ii) Descriptive Test (30 minutes duration):

This test will have a score of 50 marks and will assess communication skills through Emails, Reports, Situation Analysis & Precis Writing.

Penalty for Wrong Answers: For both Preliminary and Main exams, 1/4th of the marks assigned to a question will be deducted for each wrong answer in the Objective Tests.

Phase-III: Psychometric Test, Group Exercise & Interview

  • Psychometric Test: The Bank will conduct this test for personality profiling of shortlisted candidates.
  • Group Exercise: 20 Marks
  • Interview: 30 Marks

Final Selection

To qualify for the final selection, candidates must pass both Phase-II and Phase-III separately. The final merit list will be prepared by aggregating the marks obtained in the Main Examination (Objective and Descriptive Tests) and Phase-III (Group Exercise and Interview). The marks will be normalized to 100 as follows:
